Saturation 11

Saturation 11 : Saturation is used to refer to the repetition of similar ideas or themes by different groups of participants. Qualitative methods such as focus groups offer open ended opportunities for participants to give their views. This means that you do not have a clear idea of the kinds of answers the participants might give. During the first few groups you would expect to hear a wide range of views or opinions but as you collect more data, familiar themes or topics will arise. When no more new themes or topics arise, the method has achieved saturation and you can assume that another similar group would add no more to your understanding of the issue
