Scarp 1


Scarp 1 : A prominent to subdued, often linear, slope or escarpment. Scarps are often produced by faulting, especially that which involves a significant amount of dip slip. However, scarps can also form as a result of stream erosion, wave erosion (e.g. lake shorelines) or landsliding. Fault scarps vertically offset the ground surface, creating portions of the same surface at different elevations on either side of the scarp
