Second Generation Biofuels

Second Generation Biofuels : Second generation biofuels are derived from lignocellulosic crops. Plants are made from lignin and cellulose, second generation technology allows these two components of a plant to be split. Then the cellulose can be fermented into alcohol in much the same way as a first generation biofuel. These biofuels can be manufactured from various types of biomass. Biomass is a wide-ranging term meaning any source of organic carbon that is renewed rapidly as part of the carbon cycle. Biomass is all derived from plant materials but can also include animal materials
