Sectoral Social Dialogue

Sectoral Social Dialogue :

Following the Council decision of May 1998 on the establishment of the sectoral social dialogue committees, 27 committees were set up at the joint request of the social partners (employers' and workers' organizations) in the sector concerned. This unequivocal success illustrates the European sectoral social dialogue's great potential for development. The European Commission wishes to continue its support for the flourishing European sectoral social dialogue and to promote the establishment of further committees so that all the main branches are covered. This is the proper level for discussion on many issues linked to employment, working conditions, vocational training, industrial change, the knowledge society, demographic patterns, enlargement and globalization.
