Service-entrance Cable : Service-entrance cable is a single conductor or multiconductor assembly provided with or without an overall covering, primarily used for services and of the following types: (1) Type SE, having a flame-retardant, moisture-resistant covering, but not required to have inherent protection against mechanical abuse. (2) Type USE, recognized for underground use, having a moisture-resistant covering, but not required to have a flame-retardant covering or inherent protection against mechanical abuse. Single-conductor cables having an insulation specifically approved for the purpose do not require an outer covering
