Major services by classification societies are: (1) Approvals, (2) Certification, (3) Classification, (4) Inspection, (5) Construction Survey, (6) Consultancy, (7) Design Appraisal, (8) Testing and Witnessing. Classification societies act as providers of services. This can not be construed as an obligation bearing on the society to obtain a result or as a warranty. Any delay or shortcomings in the performance of the society's services arising from an event not reasonably foreseeable by or beyond the control of the society is deemed not to be a breach of contract
