Severity Factor : [Aviation industry] The following definitions apply to the severity accorded to occurrences and to findings as the result of investigation of occurrences: Severity Factor (1): Critical (CR). Definition: An occurrence or deficiency that caused, or on its own had the potential to cause, loss of life or limb; Severity Factor (2): Major (MA). Definition: An occurrence or deficiency involving a major system that caused, or had the potential to cause, significant problems to the function or effectiveness of that system; Severity Factor (3): Minor (MN). Definition: An isolated occurrence or deficiency not indicative of a significant system problem
