Accident 04 : General. (Safety) An unplanned event, sometimes but not necessarily injurious or damaging, which interrupts an activity. A chance occurrence arising from unknown causes; an unexpected happening due to carelessness, ignorance, and the like. Note: Accidents are most often characterized as being sudden, unexpected, and upon onset beyond human control. According to researchers, accidents are not arbitrary and random; they arise from multiple factors, follow epidemiological principles, and are avoidable through multiple preventive measures
