Shift Work 1 :
A method of work organization under which groups or "crews" of workers succeed each other at the same workstations to perform the same operations, with each crew working a certain schedule, so that the enterprise can operate longer than the stipulated weekly hours for one worker. For example, some enterprises have two shifts - a day shift and a night shift. Other enterprises have three shifts of eight hours each. Shift workers, especially those working during night hours, may be paid an extra allowance
