Shock Wave 02 : (Aerodyn) A pressure pulse in air, water, or earth, propagated from an explosion, which has two phases: in the first, or positive phase, the pressure rises sharply to a peak, then subsides to the normal pressure of the surrounding medium; in the second, or negative phase, the pressure falls below that of the medium, then returns to equilibrium. Note: A shock wave in air is often called a blast wave. A shock wave can be induced by a spark, a rupturing diaphragm, a detonation, or other mechanism
