Short Trip 2 :
To raise and pull a few strands of drill pipe off the drill string in a well and then return it to the bottom of the well. A short trip is used to a) clean and open the well, b) see if it is safe to pull out of the hole and c) to prevent the drill string from becoming stuck by caving or sloughing
