Side Tanks
Side Tanks : Tanks sometimes constructed on the upper deck as additional ballast tanks. In some vessels the upper tween deck space forward and aft of the machinery and boiler space is partitioned off to form water ballast tanks, called tween deck ballast tanks. Another type of side water ballast tanks are those where the triangular spaces under the gunwales are adapted to form topside tanks; this is the design to which "centilever" is sometimes applied
