Silos
Silos : A tall, cylinder -like construction for storing loose materials. Agricultural silos are 6-7. 6 m (20 - 25 ft) in diam. and up to 21. 4 m (70 ft) high. The base is set in concrete. The walls may be either a) precast concrete blocks interlocked horizontally and vertically, bound in place by steel bands, or b) steel plated sections bolted together. The top of the silos is usually domeshaped and constructed with sheet steel, aluminium or glass-reinforced polyester. Access hatches to the interior are through the dome. May be used for storing grain, etc. or green forage. If the latter limited fermentation is necessary to preserve the nutritional value
