Slingbox

Slingbox :

Slingbox is a hardware device that transmits signals from a cable or satellite television connection to a personal computer over the Internet. The device, which is manufactured and distributed by Sling Media, is intended for TV place shifting with individual computers. Slingbox requires a high-speed Internet connection, router and network at the site where the TV set is located. Another high-speed Internet connection is required at the site where viewing takes place. Slingbox is configured for Windows XP and can function on desktop or laptop computers. Here's how Sling Media describes set-up: (1) Connect the TV source to the Slingbox; (2) Connect the Slingbox to the Internet; (3) Plug in the Slingbox power adapter; (4) Load SlingPlayer software onto your PC. You might use Slingbox to watch your home television programming on your computer in another room in your house or on a laptop while you travel. All of the control functions normally available on the home TV set are available at the remote location, with the exception of recording or storing of TV programs. It is not necessary for the home TV set to be powered-up when remote viewing takes place
