Smokey Bear 2
Smokey Bear 2 : (For Serv) A US and Canadian Forest Service symbol used to publicize forest-fire prevention programs. Note: The original Smokey was found in 1950 as a cub, one of the few animals surviving an extensive forest-fire in New Mexico. Prior to that he was simply a cartoon character. He was flown to Washington DC and was officially designated as the living symbol of forest-fire prevention by the US Congress. Smokey died in 1975 at the age of 26. His successor now lives at the National Zoological Park in Washington, DC, where he has his own mailing zip code: 20252. In Mexico he is called Simon El Oso
