Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) : An organisation whose functions are to: (1) provide expert scientific and technical advice across the nuclear fuel cycle to government and to support Australia's national strategic and nuclear policy objectives; (2) operate large nuclear science and technology based facilities in Australia and overseas for the benefit of the research and development community, including postgraduate students and staff in the higher education sector and for industry; (3) undertake research on specific topics to advance the understanding of nuclear science and the nuclear fuel cycle; (4) apply resultant technologies and other relevant, unique capabilities on focussed research and development to increase the competitiveness of Australian industry and the quality of life for all Australians
