Solar Tide 2

Solar Tide 2 : A partial tide caused by the gravitational pull of the Sun on the Earth. The Earth is closer to the Sun at perihelion because the Earth's orbit is an ellipse. Perihelion occurs in winter in the Northern Hemisphere, while aphelion (the farthest distance of the Earth from the Sun) occurs in summer. (The moon also moves closer to and farther from Earth respectively, during these two seasons). Because of both of these movements, the tidal ranges are greater in the Northern Hemisphere during the winter than they arc in the summer. See aphelion, lunar, and perihelion tide
