Solid State 1 : (ICT) This is memory based on silicon technology rather than magnetic or optical technology. It has no moving parts and is very fast compared to other memory methods. Silicon memory 'chips' are often mounted together to form a memory card. Solid state memory includes RAM, ROM, EPROM, EEPROM and Flash. See also:
