Sorption 02
Sorption 02 : (Chem; Phys) The general term for the process of one material being taken up by another, including both absorption and adsorption. Note: In adsorption, molecules of a gas or liquid stick to the surface of an adsorbing material. In the case of a gas mask, the process is selective: molecules of toxic gas are adsorbed by the activated charcoal in the canister, while air molecules pass through. Absorption, on the other hand, is largely a capillary action, such as that of a sponge when it soaks up a liquid. Capillarity plays a part in both absorption and adsorption. Sorption is the general term for both phenomena
