Spatial Segmentation :
A numerical discretization of the spatial component of a system into one or more dimensions; forms the basis for application of numerical simulation models. Simulation: The use of mathematical models to approximate the observed behavior of a natural water system in response to a specific known set of input and forcing conditions. Models that have been validated, or verified, are then used to predict the response of a natural water system to changes in the input or forcing conditions
