Special Needs Shelters

Special Needs Shelters :

Special needs shelters are distinct shelters or portions of general shelters that are designed to care for people with special needs, including assistance with maintaining the activities of daily living and monitoring minor health and medical conditions. The intent of special needs shelters is to provide an environment in which the health of shelterees with special needs can be sustained with available resources. Medical eligibility for a special needs shelter is based on a leveling system, which accounts for the individual's condition and the skills required to provide care.
