Surface Active Agent 3 : (Phys; Chem) A substance that in small quantity alters the surface properties of gas, liquid, and solid interfaces in any combination, except perhaps gas-gas. Surface activity is usually associated with emulsification, wetting, adhesion, surface tension, and friction. Also called: Surfactant
