Auxiliary Police 32 : United States: (8) Sayreville, New Jersey: Sayreville Auxiliary Police car. In 1941 under the civil defense act, Sayreville, New Jersey, started what has evolved into today's Auxiliary Police force. While on duty, all officers of the Sayreville Auxiliary Police have the power to enforce all laws in the borough of Sayreville and the state of New Jersey (as written by New Jersey State Police directive #28). Auxiliary Police officers carry handcuffs, PR-24 or expandable batons, pepper spray, and police radios. All officers are also trained in defensive tactics and in CPR/First Aid
