Avogadro's Number, Avogadro Constant (NA)

Avogadro's Number, Avogadro Constant (NA) :

A unit of relative quantity equal to the number of atoms or molecules per mole of a substance. The currently accepted value is 6.022 141 79 x 1023 per mole with an uncertainty of 0.000 000 47 x 1023 per mole (about 80 parts per billion). The atomic mass unit (see above), in grams, is equal to one divided by this number. The unit is named for the Italian chemist and physicist Amedeo Avogadro (1776-1856). Avogadro was the first to conclude from Dalton's atomic theory that equal volumes of gases (at the same temperature and pressure) must contain an equal number of molecules
