Thermal Expansion 3

Thermal Expansion 3 :

The coefficient of linear expansion in the proportion of the alteration in length per degree, to the length at 0ºC. The coefficient of surface expansion is twice the linear coefficient. The coefficient of volume expansion for solids is three times their linear expansion; for liquids it is the proportion of the alteration in volume per degree to the volume at 0ºC. The value of this coefficient varies with temperature. The coefficient of volume expansion for gases at constant pressure is practically the same for all gases at all temperatures and amounts to an increase of 1/273 of their volume at 0ºC for every 1ºC change in temperature
