Three-Dimensional Site Amplification
Three-Dimensional Site Amplification : Traditionally, site amplification of ground motion has been modeled by means of a depth-dependent one dimensional structure. Three-dimensional amplification considers a structure varying in all directions due to features such as irregular topography and sub-surface interfaces. The computational load increases dramatically as one proceeds from 1-D to 3-D through the intermediate 2-D approximation. See Kawase (2003)
