Threshold Quantity 1 (TQ)
Threshold Quantity 1 (TQ) : Requirements established by the Clean Air Act of 1990 for substances that, in the case of accidental release, may reasonably be anticipated to cause death, injury, or serious adverse effects to human health or the environment. TQ values (listed in 40 CFR 68) were established primarily for off-site emergency response considerations. The TQ is not an appropriate screening level for hazard analysis or on-site emergency response considerations. An accidental release of a quantity of an extremely hazardous substance less than the TQ value could pose an immediate credible acute health effect risk to workers in the area surrounding the release site
