Thrombus 1
Thrombus 1 : (Med) A blood clot that forms as a result of injury to the wall of a blood vessel, lodges in the vessel, and obstructs circulation. See: Phlebitis. Note: If the clot breaks loose and is carried away by the blood stream, it is an embolus, which may eventually plug a smaller blood vessel and cause an infarction. The formation of a blood clot is called thrombosis
