Topological Space

Topological Space : A non-empty set A together with a fixed collection (T) of subsets of A satisfying: 0T, AT; if UT and V T then U V T; (3) if U, T, where (U) is a finite or infinite collection of sets, then U, T. The set of subsets T is called a topology for A, and the members of T are called the open sets of the topological space. Compare metric space. See also: topology. N.B.
