Accreditation 5 : Empowerment provided to an organization through legislation, statute or regulation from an appropriate local, State, Tribal or Federal government agency authorizing the organization to credential personnel for incidents in which the organization participates. According to the "National Incident Management System NIMS" Integration Center, accreditation refers to the "empowerment of certifying/qualifying organizations with the authority to declare an individual capable of performing critical tasks and capabilities"
