Transition Zone 4
Transition Zone 4 : The ice region existing between fast ice and the artic pack, usually heavily deformed. It may vary in width from hundreds of feet to tens of miles depending on seasonal and annual changes. Fast ice may be found in this zone, adjacent to grounded features. (Also referred to as the shear or Stamukhi zone.) (Bul 2N)
