Tripartite Declaration of Principles Concerning Multinational Enterprises and Social Policy : A non-binding set of principles which became effective in 1978, adopted by the International Labour Organization. It is aimed at encouraging the positive contribution that multinational enterprises can make to economic and social progress. It is also aimed at minimizing and resolving difficulties that may arise through the operation of such enterprises. The Declaration exhorts multinational enterprises to take fully into account the established policy objectives of host countries. It sets out principles governing employment, training, conditions of work and life, and industrial relations. The Declaration is relevant to the consideration of trade and labour standards.
