Ultrasound 3 : there are several different types of ultrasound. The technology is similar in that we are using sound waves, that the intention is quite different. The two main types of ultrasound are diagnostic and therapeutic. In our office we use therapeutic ultrasound, so we are not trying to visualize any structures. The sound waves can be used as a form of mechanical irritation to warm up your muscles and to break up fibrotic adhesions
