Unprotected Area 1 : In relation to an external wall of a building means: (a) any part of the external wall which has less than the required FRR. For example, a non fire rated window, door or other opening, or sheet metal; (b) any part of the external wall which has combustible material more than 1.0mm thick attached or applied to its external face, whether for cladding or any other purpose
