Use 1 : (1) Authorized Use: Use of radioactive materials or radioactive objects from an authorized practice in accordance with an authorization. Intended primarily for contrast with clearance, in that clearance implies no further regulatory control over the use, whereas the authorization for authorized use may prescribe or prohibit specific uses. A form of restricted use. (2) Restricted Use: The use of an area or of materials, subject to restrictions imposed for reasons of radiation protection and safety. Restrictions would typically be expressed in the form of prohibition of particular activities (e.g. house building, growing or harvesting particular foods) or prescription of particular procedures (e.g. materials may only be recycled or reused within a facility)
