Valve 03 : (Techn) Any device for restricting, regulating, or stopping the flow of a fluid. Note: A pressure valve opens and closes a relief vent depending on whether the pressure is above C: below a given value. Temperaturs valves include fusible link types that melt at a set temperature: manual or automatic resetting types; and vacuum types that respond e: pressures below atmospheric. Gate valves provide throttling action; check valves allow flow in one direction only; pressures relief valves operate automatically when predetermined critical pressure exceeded; and needle valves allow: fine regulation of fluid flows.
