Voltmeter 1 : Instrument used for measuring voltage. It is of high resistance and takes very little current and causes only a slight drop in the potential difference. Current through the voltmeter is proportional to the voltage and the scale can be graduated to read directly in volts. With the necessary changes in connections some instruments can serve as a voltmeter or ammeter, the scale having two graduations
