Wall Opening 1 : (1) (Build; Safety) An opening in any wall or partition through which persons may fall, such as a yardarm doorway or chute opening. See: Wall Hole. (2) (Build; Fire Pr) An aperture in a wall, such as a door leading to a room or corridor, passageway, through a partition, and the like. See also: Vertical Opening Cal Opening; Un Protected Opening. Note: Classes of Wall Openings Are: Class A, Through Fire Walls; Class B, Into Vertical Enclosures, Such As Elevator Shafts, Stairwells, Etc. ; Class C, Into Corridors or Through Room Partitions; Class D, Through Exterior Walls Subject To Severe Fire Exposure; Class E, Doors Through Exterior Walls Subject To Moderate Fire Exposure.
