Water Equivalent 4 :
The water equivalent of a body is the weight of water, which has the same thermal capacity, i. e. the weight of water which could be heated through the same temperature when supplied with the same amount of heat. Thus, an aluminium block weighing 1,000 grammes needs 200 calories of heat to raise it through 1ºC; 200 calories would heat 200 grammes of water through 1ºC; the water equivalent of the block is 200 grammes
