Water Gel 1
Water Gel 1 : (Civ Eng; Techn) One of a wide variety of materials used for blasting, containing substantial proportions of water and high proportions of ammonium nitrate, some of which is in solution in the water. Note: Two broad classes of water gels are (1) those containing an explosive, such as TNT or smokeless powder, and (2) those not containing an explosive. These are sensitized with metals, such as powdered aluminum. Water gels may be premixed or mixed at the site immediately before delivery. Also called: Slurry Explosives
