Water Hammer 7

Water Hammer 7 : Water moving through a pipe possesses both mass or weight and velocity. Greater effort is required to arrest the movement of water as its velocity rises. If the flow in a pipe is cut off suddenly the kinetic energy possessed by the moving water is instantly converted into pressure energy which must be absorbed by the pipe and fittings and the resultant shock may result in a failure of the pipe
