Waveform Inversion

Waveform Inversion : A term used both in Earth structure and earthquake source studies, indicating the use of the whole waveform data instead of their particular parameter characteristics. Various inversion procedures can be used for estimating the model parameters of Earth structure and earthquake source, by minimizing the misfit between the observed and synthetic seismograms based on trial parameters.
