Weight 2

Weight 2 : (Phys) The force with which a gravitational field attracts a body. This force is proportional to the mass of the body and the position of the body in the field. On earth, a body weighs the most at the poles and least at the equator because of centrifugal force. Weight also decreases with distance from the surface of the earth. Note: Weight and mass are easily confused. Mass refers to the quantity of matter in a body (essentially constant) and weight to the force of gravity on a body (variable). The pound (16 ounces) is properly a unit of force equal to the gravitational attraction at the earth's surface on 453. 6 grams (mass units)
