Wisconsin

Wisconsin :

A thermal process for fixing atmospheric nitrogen. Air is heated to over 2,000ºC by contact with a bed of magnesia pebbles, and then cooled rapidly by contact with a bed of cold pebbles. The resulting air, containing 1 to 2 percent of nitric oxide, is passed through beds of silica gel to dry it; to permit the nitric oxide to be oxidized to dinitrogen tetroxide; and to concentrate the dinitrogen tetroxide before desorbing it and dissolving it in water
