Base Map 4
Base Map 4 : A map intended as a base onto which other information is added, either as manual annotations, or digitally as new map layers in a Geographic Information System (GIS). Base maps usually include the grid coordinate system, roads, settlements, rivers and any other topographic features which will help users generate new useful information. These features are used to help locate known but as yet unmapped features such as fire hydrants, or interpreted to produce new information such as relative fuel load or accessibility
