Work permit 2 : A properly authorised and recorded written permission to carry out an activity. Commonly used to allow maintenance work which interrupts normal operation and may be hazardous in itself or introduce hazard if not controlled correctly. The written authorisation by a competent person to perform a particular activity. The authorisation contains a general description of the work to be undertaken and is issued only after a visit to the work location by the person authorising the work
