Coordinates efforts to raise health levels worldwide and promotes the development of primary health. Besides multiple public health programmes and actions, it is engaged in disaster preparedness and relief both at headquarters and at six Regional offices, and coordinates the health sector of any United Nations involvement in major emergencies
