Big Data

Big Data :

An all-encompassing term for any collection of data sets so large and complex that it becomes difficult to process using on-hand data management tools or traditional data processing applications. Big Data is often characterized by the four V's: Volume (scale of the data), Velocity (the frequency at which new data is generated), Variety (the different forms and formats of data), and Veracity (the quality of uncertainty of the data). Big Data consists of extensive datasets primarily in the characteristics of volume, variety, velocity, and/or variability that require a scalable architecture for efficient storage, manipulation, and analysis. *(DRAFT NIST Big Data Interoperability Framework: Volume 1, Definitions, public comment April 6 to May 15, 2015: See: http: //bigdatawg.nist.gov/V1_output_docs.php )
