Arsine


Arsine : Chemistry and Chemical Disasters. AsH3. A colourless gas with a smell of garlic. Extremely poisonous. Not soluble in water. A moderate fire and explosive hazard. It is liable to be liberated in certain industrial processes involving metals, e. g. in cleaning out steel tanks which have contained sulphuric acid, due to the very dilute acid causing a liberation of hydrogen which reacts with any arsenic present. It is extremely poisonous. A moderate fire and explosion hazard. In firefighting, breathing apparatus should be worn. Use carbon dioxide or dry powder as the extinguishing agent. It causes arsenic poisoning. Carry patient shoulder high to fresh air, keep warm and obtain medical assistance
