Artificial Respiration 3 : (First Aid; Med) A lifesaving first-aid treatment given to victims who have ceased breathing due to drowning, shock, or other accident. Prone pressure and arm lift methods involve periodic external pressure on the rib cage. Mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, or the use of resuscitation equipment, involve filling the lungs periodically by forcing air into the victim's airway.
